Inspiring and Affirming - Great for Pursuing Your Professional Dream!
I don't usually like 'self help' books, but From Scratch to Six Figures is uniquely helpful and inspiring.Jacquelyn's advice is geared towards anyone looking to pursue an independent career pertaining to a talent/ passion/ experty.
Honestly, her advice is great for anyone who's thinking about finding fulfilling work.
Her approach is very different to a lot of 'hustle culture' advice in that it actually encourages the reader to pursue something unique to their situation and skill set, and provides practical advice and example to doing so.
What I loved most about this book is Jacquelyn's sense for affirmations - reading this feels like talking to someone who really believes in you. It's an inspiring book w a lot to offer!
PS- My only really note is the book's name - this book is better then its name.

Beautiful Writing And Ideas
It would be impossible to make a review for this without firstly mentioning the word choice and structure of the book. The descriptions and metaphors used to describe American life are done beautifully. Overall, this book is written extremely well. Beyond that, there are real life examples and statistics used to back up the points made throughout. Thanks to this, the structure is strong, and each section this book has to offer transitions into one another naturally.
The writing is amazing, and it's only backed up more by the ideas and points presented here. If you're looking for motivation and a chance to self-reflect, then this is a must-read. There are questions prompted to make you reflect, and then explanations of these questions to give you more to think about. And to top it all off, there are solutions inside that are both spelled and hidden for only you to find. All of these traits make it so your mindset will change or at least think about changing after reading this.
Overall, this book is a must for those looking for a change in mindset. It's structured very well, making it an easy read that can potentially help you.

First and foremost I am always ready and willing to read a book created and developed by a black female author especially on the topic of finances. We can all relate to being tired of the 9 to 5 yo yo cycle and the rich stay richer and the poor stay poorer living paycheck to paycheck dreading the day something falls apart or breaks and we don’t have the rainy-day funds to fix it. In this book the author teaches you on how to break this cycle by discovering your holistic worth on what you bring to the table at a job (ie: talent, experience, educational background and knowledge expertise), how to effectively capitalize and advertise on your worth, how to find buyers and have buyers come to you when they need your services.
I also learned how important it is to physically put pen to paper since it activates certain parts of the brain that are responsible for causing you to remember the key information that you hear. Education and hard work is the key to success. It was nice to see the author be truly transparent about how her 4 degrees and her motivational speaking business was simply not enough to pay the bills on a consistent basis. She still needed to work at a day job to stay afloat especially after the consulting gigs dried up. I think that a lot of people would love to be their own boss but only see the glamorous side of it all but don’t realize that theres a lot of hard work and weird hours involved to stay afloat financially.
If you find a job that you enjoy doing then you will never have to work a day in your life. The most powerful takeaway that I received from this book was that life is very uncertain and you have a save a little each and every day so that you are able to enjoy retirement and not have to worry about the losing your job during the next pandemic. It was so sad yet eye opening to learn that about 59% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck managing that more than half of our adult population doesn’t have any saving to fall back on whatsoever. With that being said, it is very important to save some money with each paycheck, change your mind diet and create 3 positive affirmations for your business and embrace a growth mindset in order to truly succeed in life.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I’m not the biggest fan of self-help books but this one made me feel good. The personal stories, the advice, the positive affirmations, and the examples of how to apply the advice — it really gave me some inspiration. The author declares that everyone has a gift they possess that can help them achieve their goals or get a better job or live a better life. She talks about her gift, that she “can be sick and bedridden but will still find a way to lift up someone else’s spirit” and I truly believe it. Very well-written and easy to follow, and I didn’t get bored once. Definitely worth a read!
